Microneedling

Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure that uses a unique device equipped with fine, sterile needles to create tiny punctures in the skin’s surface, stimulating the body’s natural healing process and promoting collagen and elastin production. The result is smoother, tighter, and more youthful-looking skin. Microneedling is an effective treatment for various skin concerns, including lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture.

Microneedling is commonly used on the face, neck, chest, and hands, but it can also be used on other areas of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.

The treatment can be used to address a variety of concerns, including:

Microneedling with PRP

At Abrams Aesthetics and Hair Restoration, we offer microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for even better results. PRP is a concentrate of platelets derived from the patient’s own blood, which contains growth factors that help stimulate the body’s natural healing process. When PRP is combined with microneedling, it enhances the skin’s natural healing process, promoting collagen and elastin production and accelerating the growth of healthy new skin cells.

Microneedling with PRP is particularly effective for the face, under the eyes, and scalp for hair restoration. PRP can stimulate hair growth and improve hair thickness and density, making it an ideal treatment for those with weak, brittle hair or hair loss.

FAQs

Microneedling is generally well-tolerated, but some patients may experience mild discomfort during the treatment. A topical numbing cream can be applied if necessary.
The number of treatments required varies depending on the goals of the patient and the severity of the skin concern being treated. We typically recommend 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for optimal results.
There is little to no downtime with microneedling. Patients might experience some redness and mild swelling immediately following the treatment, but this usually resolves within a few hours to a day. Patients can return to their regular activities immediately after the treatment.
The results of microneedling are long-lasting, but regular maintenance treatments may be needed to maintain optimal results. We typically recommend maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months.
